在新冠疫情肆虐、生意萧条的背景下，婚礼策划师魏道生（黄子华饰）被迫改行成为一名葬礼经纪人。红白二事大相逐庭，令道生处处碰壁，但最难一关是要得到嗨吭师傅文哥（许冠文饰）的认可。起初因为理念不合，道生与文哥冲突不断，两人的关系岌岌可危。为立足业界，道生只好投靠文哥的儿子，嗨吭第三代传人志斌（朱栢康饰）。道生与志斌合作期间，虽然文哥一开始不认同道生的处事方式，但数次危难时刻都会出手相助，两人逐渐破冰，交流起各自对生死的理解，结为忘年好友。步入晚年的文哥后来因病而行动不便，被迫退休同时亦被交由女儿文玥（卫诗雅饰）照顾。
